The Role of a Governor

The roles of individual Governors, and subsequently members of a Governing Body, work collectively to perform a strategic role and carry out key functions such as:

• Discuss and set the aims and objectives for the Trust and its schools.
• Set the required policies for achieving those aims and objectives.
• Set the required targets for achieving those aims and objectives.
• Monitor and evaluate the progress that the Trust is making towards it’s set aims and objectives.

The Governors are committed to ensuring that children achieve their potential and are well-equipped for life after school. We believe that every child can be successful, and as staff work hard to make sure this happens, we expect our learners to do the same.

The Governors’ primary role is to work with the Trust Leadership Team to agree the short and long term strategy for the Trust; to assist in ensuring they have the necessary resources and review the progress of the Trust and its schools towards achieving its aim.

Ultimate responsibility for Skinners' Academies Trust rests with the Board of Trustees of the Trust and governance details and scheme of delegation can be found on this website but much of the work of the Trust Board is delegated to the Local Governing Bodies of our schools.
